Accounting Technician

GENERAL DEFINITION OF WORK:
Lake Monticello Owners Association has an opening for an Accounting Technician, reporting to the Director of Finance. Performs professional and technical work involving fiscal operational responsibilities and preparation and maintenance of fiscal records. Must have excellent computer skills including Excel and Word with the ability to analyze and problem-solve.
DUTIES:
Daily counting/verification of cash, checks and credit card transactions
Cash account monitoring
Tax and retirement deposits
General Ledger reconciliations
Posting general ledger entries
Time card verification
Payroll processing
Interfaces with department heads on Payroll documentation.
Interfaces with employees on Payroll and Personnel documentation.
Property and casualty insurance tracking and compliance
Involvement in Workmen's Compensation and Disability Claims
Responsible for preparation of quarterly payroll tax, FUTA and SUTA reporting.
Maintains Payroll and Accounts Payable databases, and physical files.
Maintains Personnel records including Affordable Care Act, annual leave and Personal Time Off (PTO) accruals
Compiles monthly, annual, and special reports including sales tax returns and 401(k) retirement fund reporting.
Responsible for receipt and refund of Owners' building deposits.
Assists in the preparation of annual budgets.
Assures adequate documentation/support of transactions and reports.
Assists outside auditor on annual audit.

Maintenance of personnel files
Coordinate drug-screening, background checks and E-Verify
Employee benefits administration
Estimated Salary: $20 to $28 per hour based on qualifications.

Don't Be Fooled

The fraudster will send a check to the victim who has accepted a job. The check can be for multiple reasons such as signing bonus, supplies, etc. The victim will be instructed to deposit the check and use the money for any of these reasons and then instructed to send the remaining funds to the fraudster. The check will bounce and the victim is left responsible.
